Welcome to the wonderful world of dog training
The Obedience Club of Daytona is a not-for-profit club founded in 1982. All of our instructors are volunteers so that fees may go towards club projects. Most of our instructors have earned AKC titles for their dogs, and compete in obedience and agility competitions. Many attend dog-training and dog-related clinics, workshops and seminars on a regular basis to stay on top of the latest positive-training methods to better teach you how to improve your skills as a trainer. We have teachers that are certified from (NADOI) National Dog Obedience Instructors.
We invite you to explore our site to see our class schedule, trials and events. We include our Chatter-Barks newsletter and photos from past events. You can also download an application for classes.
We welcome new members, with or without a dog, to come learn to train dogs and be part of the Obedience Club of Daytona. You are welcome to observe our classes before registering. All new members must complete an application form and pay a one-time joiner fee and annual dues.
Since 2008, we have adopted Military Working Dog kennels in Iraq and Afghanistan and have supported a kennel in Germany with many requested items. As of September 2015 we are in contact with 3 teams which will be deployed soon and we are standing by for any support items needed. This past cold season requests for Polar Trex booties, Quinzee heat vests, Bivy bowls and Fleece bedding were common items sent for the dogs.
We have a group of Therapy Dogs and handlers who enjoy the very rewarding experience of visiting local nursing homes and hospitals. These dogs are at least one year old and have at least basic obedience skills. To learn more about how to participate in this rewarding experience, watch the video at the Alliance of Therapy Dogs website.
